The tradition in Lima is to set off fireworks on Christmas Eve. The loud noismakers started around noon and continued every few minutes until about 5 pm when the pace picked up to about 2 to three a minute. Once darkness fell the larger ones started going off continuing steadily to just about 11 pm when the pace started to pick up a bit. At midnight the rumble and explosions was continuous and continued until past 1:oo when the pace started to wind down. These were captured just after midnight from our window. The fireworks were going off 360 degrees so no mater where you looked you could see them. Our neighbours set some off in the parking lot but they bounced off a tree and exploded around the cars, setting off the car alarms and bouncing off the building. Only a few hit close to our open window. Vincent loved it and called them the wows.
