The old maple across the road met its end today as a city of Toronto worker came and cut down all the branches. The street looses one of its 100 year old trees and we loose some of our shade in the summer. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be too long before the tree in our front yard suffers a similar fate.
Here we see city workers who are not sleeping on the job. They do have a system though, as they left a lot the tree still standing. While we were watching all this going on, a local Darwin candidate with two dogs passed under the tree while the saw-man was cutting off the branches. The candidate had to navigate around the cones placed on the sidewalk but luck prevented him from winning the award today.
