Brighton Saturday Night

What is a camping trip to Presquile without a trip to the stock car races in Brighton. Crowds, hot dogs, loud noise and the locals. Great fun. Even the ospreys in the infield loved the spectacle.

Cottage Morning

Dad was up before Vincent and Mom on this day at the cottage so Dad decided to sit at the lake and watch the sunrise. The lake was perfectly calm, a great morning for a paddle around the bay in the canoe.

Cottage Critters: White Tailed Deer

The morning brought these two white tailed deer to the lake looking for a drink.

Botaurus lentiginosus

This American bittern froze in the reeds as I approached in the canoe.

Butorides virescens

The morning canoe ride also resulted in me spoting this green heron in the tree on the island. He was mostly relaxed but became alarmed when I got too close as his hair stood on end.

Sayornis phoebe

This eastern phoebe liked to sit in the tree by the lake between meals.
