More winter visitors "Cygnus olor"

The cold weather has brought more winter visitors to the beach. It must be that the smaller lakes and bays are freezing over, thus, they are finding their way to the open water. Most of you will know these as the "cygnus olor" or mute swans orginally introduced from Europe. They are so big (60 in) they can be spotted from the house.

Vincent raids the cookie jar.

Vincent likes Aunt Marsha's cookies as he raided the cookie jar this morning. He opened the cookie tin and took a chocolate cookie to play with. He looks a bit guilty but he had fun.

Christmas lights

The White Christmas arrived in January for Little Christmas.

Snow arrives at the beach.

The snow arrived here on January 3rd, here are some pictures from the beach. The polar bear club went swimming in the lake in Oakville on the 1st.

Mallards are always here.

The easily recognisable mallards are always at the beach.

The buffleheads are here!

So how many of you knew what a bufflehead is? Anyway they are down in the shallows at the lake diving for small fish. They winter in the south and in the great lakes and summer north to James Bay. These are the ones too lazy to fly to Florida. They are not very close to shore so it is hard to get a good picture.

Vincent is 11 months old

Vincent was 11 months old on Sunday. We still think he is cute.

Stuck in the toy hamper !

With all the great new Christmas presents the toy hamper weighs a bit more now. Vincent usually pulls the toy hamper over to get the toy he is looking for but now he had to go right into the hamper to get it out. The only problem Vincent had was that he could not get out. We heard a little cry for help and when we got there we saw that Vincent was stuck.
