Knowlton Lake Critters: Muskrat

This muskrat was hanging around the second dock at the lake. Occasionally he came out to eat some clover flowers. This critter sure is not on the cuddly list.

The Loons of Knowlton Lake

The Loons of Knowlton Lake were quieter this year as they lost their young to predators (probably snapping turtles) but they still managed to call across the lake and provide one of the memorable sounds at the cottage. They often pop up beside the canoe or when floating on an air mattress thus providing great closeups.

Good Fishing

The fishing was good this year as Uncle Bill brought all the newest weapons from the Bass Pro Shop. A total of 18 bass were caught on an evening and morning trip. The biggest was a 3-1/2 lb bass by Dad on Wednesday evening. Uncle Bill fileted a couple of them on Thursday and we enjoyed a great dinner. Vincent is wondering if Uncle Bill has budgeted for the new Bass Pro Shop opening soon in Kingston.

Rescue Team in Action

All it took was a bit of wind to whip away Vincent's flotation device. Vincent likes to float around close to shore in his pool ring. Fortunately the rescue crew sprang into action to retrive the device before it ended up down the lake. Here is the rescue team in action.
